Unboxing my Perfectly Pristine Glamourbox April 2014

8:32:00 PM
I am so late in my beauty box unboxing for April!  In fact, my Perfectly Pristine Glamourbox  for April arrived last week so I have to post this before the month ends.

Look! If not for the very sturdy Glamourbox  box, the contents would literally burst the seams! Yay! If I know how to tap dance, I would! Just looking at box got me excited, it is really heavy.

Okay, let's get to the unboxing part.

My February 2014 Glamourbox has pink wrapper. This time, the inside wrapper is in apple green.

Oh My! The Perfectly Pristine Glamourbox is definitely jam-packed with full-sized goodies! At the backof the welcome card is the list of items of the Perfectly Pristine Glamourbox. It's a total of 8 items plus three add-ons!

Let's go through them one by one and let's start with my most favorite.

My first grab is the Barenaturals Sexy Back Scrub with Sacha Inchi Oil. As you know, I love scrubs! Barenaturals Sexy Back Scrub has Lulur beads for Bacne (or, back acne) and has Sacha Inchi Oil, a great antioxidant. The Sexy Back Scrub also has a spatula included, which I like because I don't have to scoop with my fingers. Hygenic, huh? It smells like candy, too.

The Barenaturals The Mane Event Nourishing Hair Mask does not contain silicone, paraben, phthalates, petrochemicals, and SLES (Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulfate). The label is a bit askew but i don't mind. In fact,it adds to the organic (or home-made) feel to the product. The main ingredients are plant-based combination of Oat Protein Oil, Macadamia Oil, Colza Oil (from the seeds of oilseed turnip).  It smells fruity, too.
Venus and Mars Naturals Smooch Lip Detox SPF15  is "petroleum-free and is only made out of the finest oils making lips younger-looking and healthy. It is known to relieve and highly moisturize chapped, even bleeding lips and protect it from sun damage".

Sebamed Olive Face and Body Wash is a new brand for me.

Aloe Derma Pure Aloe Vera Gel - 99% Organic and provides relief to dry skin and protects your skin gaints pollution and environmental hazards. This is also perfect for summer adventures where skin irritations like sunburn, burns, cuts and woulds.

Avon Skin So Soft Fast Hydration Body Gel Lotion - I'm not much of an Avon lotion user because I find most of this brand's lotion too thick for me. But this gel lotion surprised me. :) It feels very light on the skin. It also has a very refreshing smell.

Valda Pastilles - Glamourbox really puts me on my toes :) I was really surprised that Glamourbox included Valda Pastilles (which I love, by the way).

Belo Essentials Intensive Whitening Bar

Vanilla & Co. Blushing Foot Spray with Eucalyptus Oil

Zen Zest Anti-Mosquito Room Fragrance

Clean Shower Fresh Eau de Parfum and Gift Certificate

So,there. I will definitely use all the items that I got from my Perfectly Pristine Glamourbox! The purhase value of all the full-sized items is around Php1,200 not including the sample sizes. Wow, for Php580 this is certainly a great steal!

Have you subscribed to Glamourbox yet? You can check out the Glamourbox Website | Facebook Page for further details.

P.S.
I actually have three, as in three, Sample Room hauls that I haven't posted yet. Arrggh!
Until next post :)

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Image Appearing Tumbler @ Jollibee

3:39:00 PM
I love Jollibee! I normally have pancakes and coffee almost thrice a week either at Jollibee-Crossing (open 24hrs) or at Jollibee-Lianas Discount City.

So yesterday I got this The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Image Appearing Tumbler! With any Jollibee Value Meal purchase, you can avail this tumbler just for Php60.00. It's like those special coffee mugs that change colors when poured hot beverages. Only this time, the The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Image Appearing Tumbler is for cold beverages only, perfect for kids especially this summer.

This is what it looks like at regular temperature. Spidey looks pale. It looks like a thermos, but it is not.

The rim is gold-toned, but the inside wall is the same silver color as outside. It has a removable rubber lid lock that you can wash easily. It also has a clip that you can use to hang the tumbler to your backpack or secure in your bike holder.

Ta-daaa! Spidey in his full color.

Make sure to take note of the instructions, especially #2. Though it looks like a thermos, please do not use with hot beverages!
According to SMCinema.com,  “The Amazing Spider-Man 2” will be released in U.S. theaters on May 2, 2014. Are you waiting for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 to be shown in Philippine cinemas?

Every Day! Rewards at 7-Eleven

4:32:00 AM

As a VA working US hours, I get this midnight snack cravings most of the time. Since my boss, who is very generous, gave me paid lunch breaks (aside from paid Philippine legal holidays), I made a quick run to the nearest 7-11 to get chocolate chip cookies. :)

It is very typical of me to buy more than what I originally planned so I ended up getting their hot rice meal and coffee, aside from chocolate chip cookies.

Forgive the pictures :) I only bought my old phone because I just walked to 7-11, no sense attracting "bad vibes", if you know what I mean.

Well, anyway. The nice girl at the counter offered me the Every Day! Rewards Card for only P10.00. Yes, just ten pesos for a reward card. Imagine. I was surprised because normally reward cards cost around a hundred pesos or more.

Here's the card:

Here's how you can earn points:

Just present your Every Day! Rewards Card at the counter before paying.

  • Earn one (1) point for every P50 worth of single or accumulated purchase. (Cell phone prepaid cards, electronic load, bills payment, 7-Connect payment, and other special services are not included.)
  • Earn one (1) point by activating your card.
  • Earn one (1) point by completing your profile on the 7-Eleven Every Day Rewards website.
  • Earn one (1) point by linking your 7-Eleven Every Day Rewards profile to your Facebook account.
  • Earn special points by purchasing BOOSTER PRODUCTS.

Check the Redeemable Items here.

But, as you all know, life is not always as sweet as chocolate chip cookies :)

So as soon as I got home, I tried to activate my Every Day! Rewards card but I did not get my activation code as soon as I hoped. I tried again. And again. ::sigh::

I sent an SMS to the number indicated at the back of the card (please look again at the photo above) but I haven't received a response yet (it's been two hours as of this posting).

Let's see if they will respond via Facebook.

Do you think it is because I tried to activate at the ungodly hour of 2AM? Ha ha!

Okay, I'll try again the morning.

Dakasi Bubble Milk Tea @ SM Calamba : The Reason Why I Fell In Love with Milk Tea

3:21:00 AM

Remember when I posted last week that I watched Rio 2? Well, what I didn't tell you that while waiting for the movie to begin (an hour and a half), I made a slight detour to several stores and bought the following:

  1. Standard Wired A4Tech mouse because I realized a wireless mouse becomes expensive if  used everyday for online work.
  2. ever bilena Matte Lipstick in Toast of New York and a Pro Lip Liner in Mauve
  3. BOGO Watsons Body Scrub
  4. Rice Bran Exfoliating Soap with Olive Oil and Relaxing Foot Mask, both from Oryspa
  5. HBLT at The Sandwich Guy
More like flash buying, haha! I have moments like that. IKR. So anyway, that got me thirsty.

Since the queue at Starbucks is super long, I decided to try Dakasi located near the SM Calamba Cinemas. I'm trying to cut down on soda and I'm not much of a tea drinker, much less a milk tea drinker but Dakasi caught my attention because they look bright and happy with that yellow star logo and soft lights. The store also looks very inviting with all that glass, too.  :)

So I asked the crew what is their "mainit na masarap" (hot and delicious) and they are quick to offer their bestseller, the Hot Dakasi Bubble Milk Tea.

According to the Dakasi website:

Pearl milk tea or bubble tea, and unique Taiwanese style fresh tea drinks have been the favorite beverage of the Taiwanese people.
A little bit of Dakasi history:
Dakasi owes its humble beginnings in Taiwan in 1990 serving fresh tea drinks. In 1999, it opened stores in Guangzhou, China and eventually set up its main office there. After more than 10 years of endeavor, outlets have spread throughout China and Southeast Asia. It’s now a tremendously influential brand in China and has become the number one brand among its counterparts.

To be quite really honest, this is my first  milk tea. AND. I. LOVED. IT. I'm sure many would ask, where's my cave? I'm an old (but pretty) dog who loves coffee, that's why. Ha ha! But who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks?

What I love about Dakasi's milk tea is the size of their pearls. It's really smaller than the average pearls (all I know is Zagu's) so I was able to enjoy it more. Their milk tea is perfectly sweet for me and I am sure to go back and try out the rest of their menu. Dakasi milk teas range from Php80 to Php120 and you can add some jazz with their add-ons of Pearls, Grass Jelly, Coconut Jelly, Chocolate Pudding, Egg Pudding, Aloe Vera.

You can check out the Dakasi Website and their Facebook Page and have a look around.

Next time, I'm going to try the Aloe Vera variants. Do you think it will have an effect to the skin?

My First Blog + Birthday Giveaway

11:32:00 PM
Hi, my dear readers!

May 7th is a special day! It's my birthday! There'll be lots and lots of exclamation marks in this post. Ha!

I'm pretty excited, that's why. There are a lot of changes that happened this last year.

For one thing, I had an unexpected, but rewarding, career shift. All my life I slaved in a 9-to-5 desk job and then last year, I discovered online freelancing! I was lucky that my current client was very generous, not just with the monetary aspect, but also with training and mentoring. When I started working remotely, all I have is ESL (English as Secondary Language) training, a bit of MS Office, and a LOT of determination.

I redicovered blogging again. I had a previous blog called Fickleinpink back in 2008-2010 but I stopped when my family discovered too late that my mother had Diabetes II. I stopped because I was busy with "real life", so to speak. I guess when blogging gets into your blood, you can't get away from it anymore :)

So now, I'm back to my feet and re-started blogging again. And I realized, we need to CELEBRATE!

I'm hosting this giveaway from April 21st to May 7th Midnight. I will announce the Winner in the morning May 8th. Shipping is on me.

All you have to do is LIKE my Facebook Page, Follow me on Twitter, Tweet this giveaway (optional) and Leave a post comment (optional).

Easy, huh? You have to do this via the Rafflecopter link below though, so it would be easy for me to draw the lucky winner ;)

This is open to Philippine residents only.

A closer look...

  1. Asian Secrets Benkoang Whitening Soap with Olive Oil 100g- I'm a fan of Asian Secrets so I want to share this to one of my readers. Asian Secrets moisturizing soap contains bengkoang or Yam Bean Extract to whiten the skin and can be found in the islands of Sumatra and Java. It also contains olive oil to moisturize the skin.
  2. Asian Secrets Lulur Facial Scrub 50g- It has lulur beads, originally used for Indonesian brides to smoothen and whiten their skin. It is best to exfoliate when your face is still dry. It is so gentle that these fine lulur beads dissolves when used on wet face.
  3. Skin Food Water Berry Gift Set (Toner and Emulsion) - I got this well-known Korean brand from my March Saladbox. I loved the Black Pomegranate Premium Kit so I'm sure you will enjoy this, too!
  4. Nivea Protect & Bronze 200ml - Perfect for summer. I love this brand, too! Nivea Sun & protect supports our own natural melanin production to get the perfect and even tan this summer.
  5. iWhite Peel-off Mask 8ml - It's a peel-off mask that removes skin impurities. Good for single use. The active ingredients are Mulberry Root Extract, Panax Ginseng Root Extract, and Aloe Vera Leaf Extract. Besides, don't you love the packaging? Cute :)
  6. iWhite Nose Pack 3.5ml - iWhite is also a Korean brand and it has the same formulation as the peel-off mask.
  7. iWhite Aqua Mousturizing Cream 6ml - It's a water-based moisturizer and it is non-greasy. It contains Mulberry Root Extract, Panax Ginseng Root Extract, and Green Tea Leaf Extract.

Movie Date : Rio 2

4:45:00 AM
Today being Black Saturday, I should have stayed at home, but I feel as if the gates of hell (excuse the pun) are open because of the hot and humid weather. I really hate summer afternoons when the sun is beginning to set and the heat absorbed by the cement walls start to dissipate into the room. :(

So I decided to go to SM Calamba (only a 10-minute drive from home) to cool down. I brought my tablet and my camera (with the damaged flash) along with me (I don't know why. Ha!)

Anyway.

Starbuck's is full. No seats at the Food Court. So I went to SM Cinema at the 3rd Floor and checked the movie listing:
  1. Rio 2
  2. Diary ng Panget (interesting, but it's a YA (Young Adult) genre)
  3. Da Possessed (a Vhong-Solenn tandem, but a title like that, seriously?)
  4. Transendence (Johnny Depp movie)
My movie-to-watch hierarchy works like this:
  1. Foreign animated
  2. Foreign superheroes
  3. Foreign suspense-drama
  4. Philippine Indie movies
  5. 99% Pinoy commercial movies (sorry)
Okay, enough of small talk. :D Off to Rio 2!

The story is about Blu and Jewel's family and friends' journey to the Amazon's wilderness. The movie started  a New Year's bash with a lot of music and dancing, as expected in animated movies so, though enjoyable, it's no surprise to me. Fast forward to a few years after Rio 1, Blu and Jewel, together with their three kids, are living the city life in Rio Janeiro. The kids are already acclimated to iPods, pancake breakfast, and Brazilian nuts in a can.

Meanwhile, Linda (Blu's previous owner) and her husband Tulio are on an expedition and discovered that there are still spix macaws in the Amazon and decided to search for them. The news of the existence of macaws in the Amazon found its way to Rio Janeiro's televison, Jewel asked Blu to go to the Amazon to search for their kind. Blu, already a domesticated macaw, was unenthusiastic, but decided to go along.  His carnival friends Rafael, Nico, and Pedro decided to come along, too. Luis, the bulldog, was left behind.

There is also Nigel, Blu's antagonist from Rio 1 who, upon seeing Blu flying, remembered why he cannot fly anymore. Together with Gabi, a poison dart frog in love with Nigel, and Charlie the non-speaking anteater, they set off to follow Blu and company into the jungle for revenge.

Blu, now considers himself a city bird, brought a fanny pack full of city gadgets like the swiss knife and his GPS. Blu tried his best to fit in with the flock and fails, much to the disappointment of Jewel's father Eduardo. Blu was also a bit jealous of Roberto, Jewel's childhood friend.

Blu, as his saying goes - happy wife, happy life, decides to bring a Brazilian nut for Jewel but inadvertently entered the scarlet macaws' territory. It started a war that was played out by a football-like game where the loser will also lose their side of the Brazilian nut territory to the winner. Which, as expected, the blue macaws lost because Blu sent the fruit ball into his own goal.

Big Boss and his loggers tried to cut and blow up the trees. Blu sent Roberto to warn the flock and defend their territory. The scarlet macaws joined the fracas by helping the blue macaws drive away the loggers. Nigel's plan to kill Blu was foiled, again. He thought he died when he was hit by the porcupine quill dipped in Gabi's poison. There's a Romeo-and-Juliet attempt where Gabi commits suicide by drinking her own poison. Gabi found out later that she was only led to believe by her parents that she was poisonous.

The story ended with Big Boss swallowed by a python, Nigel and Gabi were taken by Linda and Tulio back to the city. Blu and Jewel decides to finally stay in the jungle and would just visit Rio Janeiro every Summer. And oh, Luis the bulldog finally arrived by joyriding in a spoonbill.

Thoughts:

  1. I did a little research and found out that spix macaws, or little blue macaws, are considered extinct in the wild.
  2. I think Tulio, Linda's orthnitologist husband, is sexist. There is a scene early in the movie where Tulio is talking to his camera and introduced Linda only  as his "assistant", much to Linda's annoyance.
  3. Blu's Happy Wife, Happy Life motto. I'm not sure what to think about that.:) But I think Blu is a lot smarter than most human males I know (wink, wink).
  4. The sequel is fun, but I think I like Rio 1 more.
Have you watched it yet? What do you think of the movie?

Blogger Event Invite : Gawad Kalinga Enchanted Farm Blogger Weekend

3:17:00 PM

I would like to thank blogger Levy Martinez, I saw her post on my Facebook newsfeed about Gawad Kalinga's invitation to GK Enchanted Farm Blogger Getaway.

The GK Enchanted Farm is organising a free weekend for bloggers! If you like writing about beautiful stories, interesting ideas and inspiring movements on your blog then you are more than welcome to join us either on the April 26-27 or May 17-18 weekends. You will enjoy a free tour of the farm and will be able to join demos of our social enterprises. Transportation, accomodation and meals will also be provided. You just need to send your blog URL to info@gkenchantedfarm.com to book your weekend.

I saw (I think it was last week) a replay of Kara David's GMA7 Power House interview with Mr. Tony Maloto and his Gawad Kalinga and the Enchanted Farm. I've never met someone as selfless, as visionary, (and to me) as patriotic as Gawad Kalinga's Tito (and Lolo to kids) TM. You might want to check a video clip of the interview here.

Mr. Kimbob's SIGNATURE DISH "Bibimbob"! : My First Taste of Korean Food

9:01:00 PM
Most often than not, I eat out. That's the downside of being single and a VA at the same time. Home cooking for one could be a hassle sometimes so I just go out and grab some fast food burger, fries and soda.

Ikr. Unhealthy.

So yesterday when I went to SM-Calamba looking for a gold-tipped Sharpie pen (I have to start nail art somewhere) and a camera repair center.

I went up to the Food Court because it connects to the footbridge going to Calamba Crossing. Too bad I wasn't able to get a picture:( Anyway, I was hungry and saw Mr. KimBob. Aside from having the longest queue of customers, Mr. Kimbob got my attention because their service crews are calling everyone and offering their printed menus to all passersby, like hawking in the local market, which is not bad at all. I call it marketing strategy.

I ask one of the crew what is their bestseller and she recommended their bibimbap called Bibimbob.

According to wiki,
Bibimbap (비빔밥, Korean pronunciation: [pibimbap], sometimes anglicized bi bim bap or bi bim bop) is a signature Korean dish. The word literally means "mixed rice"Bibimbap is served as a bowl of warm white rice topped with namul (sautéed and seasoned vegetables) and gochujang (chili pepper paste). A raw or fried egg and sliced meat (usually beef) are common additions. The ingredients are stirred together thoroughly just before eating. It is best served hot.

There are three choices: pork, chicken, or beef. My meat of choice is beef. There are five kinds of steamed vegetables: mung sprouts (togue), cabbage (repolyo), carrots, chayote or vegetable pear (sayote), and another vegetable which I don't know the name.

Regular Size Bibimbob is only Php99.00 (Large serving costs Php119.00)  but I added Php20.00 for my kimchi rice instead of plain. It is topped with a perfect sunny side up egg and served on a sizzling plate and their special Korean chilli sauce.

Again, forgive the photo ;) There is a paper guard around the sizzling plate. There is a warning NOT to remove the paper to avoid scalding. Bibimbob is really served very, very hot! Also, there is a written instruction on how to eat bibimbap properly, which is to mix everything.

Also, I also ordered a side dish of Fried Dumplings.

All in all, I was very satisfied with the serving and I love everything with chilli. This is my first time to eat bibimbap and I love it. It is certainly a Korean Health Food since nothing is fried and it is already a complete meal : carbs, protein, and vegetables. The taste is not boring, too! I'm definitely going to go back, there are still a lot to try in the menu.

Tell me, have you tried Mr. Kimbob's Bibimbob yet? You can check Mr. Kimbob's Website to know more! They are located at SM's Food Court.

I received my nth haul (and my first for April) from Sample Room. For those who are not yet familiar, Sample Room is a sampling website - the first ever in the Philippines - where you can avail product samples that you can try before you buy. These brands are familiar to me and have used their products in the past.

The first in the list, and my most favorite brand, is from Celeteque Dermoscience+.  I have used their Hydration Line before and I know, based from my experience, that Celeteque is very mild on the skin. I love SkinWhite. I've used their soaps before and I'm glad I will be able to try the Whitening Body Wash with Synchro-White Action. It promises fairer skin in seven days. I started using this yesterday, so let's see if it is effective after a week. I've highlighted in the picture the manufactured and expiration dates because this is very important to me when I buy food, cosmetics, skin products, etc. This is the second thing (the first is the price ::grin::) that I look for in a product. Thumbs up for SkinWhite!

Newspaper Nail : NOTD #1

1:23:00 PM

Ever since I received the Clou Pearls in my Salad Box last February, I was inspired to experiment on nail art. I'm not really keen on doing my nails as I always want it short. My nails are thin and easily chips. Besides, how can I do the dishes?

But girls can change their minds, right?

I love the Geeky Newspaper Nail Art tutorial from Chic Factor so below is my outcome. Please excuse the mess. =)

Lesson learned:  Be patient. Excitedly doing the next step will result in blurry and smudged prints.

Have you tried any DIY nail art yet? Share yours in the comment!
